Transnistrians dialogues: women’s edition

The main goal of the project is to increase the role of women in peace building and conflict prevention and resolution in Moldova. Women from both the right and left bank of the Dniester River take part in the project. During the implementation period several seminars/workshops and discussion sessions are organized on-line, including a final high-level conference.

The programme is implemented with the support of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ireland and Belgian Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation.

Promoting social cohesion in Moldova through the study of Gagauz and Romanian languages in Gagauz-Yeri autonomous territorial unit

The overall goal of the project is to support the preservation of the Gagauz language and culture, as well as, through the study of the state language, to promote the maximum involvement of the inhabitants of the Gagauz-Yeri autonomy in social processes and in governing the country. For this purpose, we have created a wide expert platform with the participation of specialists from Gagauzia, Chisinau and from abroad, we conduct focus groups and in-depth interviews, work on creating a road map for improving the study and functioning of the Gagauz and Romanian languages in the ATU Gagauz-Yeri.

Funding for this project is provided by the Embassy Office of the Netherlands in Moldova and the Soros Foundation Moldova.

Project implementation period: January 2021 – September 2021.

Enhancing Moldovan civil society effort in monitoring the IFI crisis COVID-19 related funding

The pandemic caused by COVID-19 has created a need for both national governments and international financial institutions around the world to respond at considerable cost. In this context The Republic of Moldova has made the call for humanitarian aid and requested IFI funding to overcome the effects of the multi-dimensional COVID19 crisis. Several of them have answered to Moldovan call and have allocated or initiated agreements for financial assistance packages. Along with the media, the CSO does not have the necessary expertise and experience to monitor how the funding is spent effectively. Thus, the fundamental problems the project will address is to help the investigative journalists to effectively monitor and investigate the way the financial assistance is paid.

This project is implemented with the kind support of the Soros Foundation Moldova.

#informMD – a new project against disinformation in the Republic of Moldova

The Institut für Europäische Politik based in Berlin (IEP), in partnership with the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE) and the Institute for Strategic Initiatives (IPIS) organized on May 12th a virtual kick-off workshop for a new project: inforMD – against disinformation in the Republic of Moldova.

Experts from Gagauzia and Chisinau made a number of proposals to stimulate the study of the Gagauz and Romanian languages ​​in the autonomy

(Română) Echipa IPIS a desfășurat prima întâlnire a platformei pentru promovarea studierii limbii române și găgăuze în UTA Găgăuzia. Participanții acestei întruniri au făcut un schimb de opinii privind situația generală ce ține de studierea limbii găgăuze și române în autonomia găgăuză, dar și au propus un set de recomandări pentru stimularea acestui proces.

#DEZVOLTMD: VOCAL SOCIAL CAMPAIGNS AT LEOVA

  Our vocal social companies, which we conduct locally in six regions of the country, have also reached the Leova district. We met on-line with Mayor Alexander Bujoryan, Chairman of “Parteneriat social” Raisa Balan and her colleagues, director of Disctrict Youth Centre Ion Calalb, president of the Association of People with Disabilities Radu Raicu, representatives of the local library, Ethnographic museum, NGO “Băștinașii”, Vocational School, M. Spätaru Lyceum. We discussed with IPIS team and our invited experts Arthur Gurau and Mircea Esanu: – the development of the local community through the prism of access to internal and external monetary funds; – on digital activism tools and self-financing methods; – how to make journalists allies in solving local problems. In October, representatives of local activists, with the help of the IPIS team, will implement their initiative in the Leova district. The meeting took place within the programme “Vocal social campaigns at local level”, which is implemented within the Grant Programme “Development of civil society at local level in Moldova”, financed by the EU and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS).

Representatives of the local public administration, businesses and activists from the Calarasi district participated in our on-line seminar and discussed some mechanisms of implementing local initiatives.

The volunteers of the Falesti District Youth Centre met with IPIS experts to learn about the existing mechanisms for creating and promoting their own social campaigns.

#WEandEU: The results of the programme “EU in Moldova: Perceptions and Reality” were presented at the final conference

Meetings with residents of Moldova from eight districts of the country, factual refutation of common myths about EU, video stories about successfully implemented projects with EU financial support, TV debates and, most importantly, communication, these are the main results of the program “EU in Moldova: Perceptions and Reality”, which were presented by three NGOs, including the Institute for Strategic Initiatives within the framework of the final conference.
