Enhancing Moldovan civil society effort in monitoring the IFI crisis COVID-19 related funding

The pandemic caused by COVID-19 has created a need for both national governments and international financial institutions around the world to respond at considerable cost. In this context The Republic of Moldova has made the call for humanitarian aid and requested IFI funding to overcome the effects of the multi-dimensional COVID19 crisis. Several of them have answered to Moldovan call and have allocated or initiated agreements for financial assistance packages. Along with the media, the CSO does not have the necessary expertise and experience to monitor how the funding is spent effectively. Thus, the fundamental problems the project will address is to help the investigative journalists to effectively monitor and investigate the way the financial assistance is paid.

This project is implemented with the kind support of the Soros Foundation Moldova.

Project implementation period: December 2020 – November 2021.

Total budget: 40,000 USD

#informMD – a new project against disinformation in the Republic of Moldova

The Institut für Europäische Politik based in Berlin (IEP), in partnership with the Institute for European Policies and Reforms (IPRE) and the Institute for Strategic Initiatives (IPIS) organized on May 12th a virtual kick-off workshop for a new project: inforMD – against disinformation in the Republic of Moldova.

IPIS urmează să contracteze o companie de cercetări sociologice pentru a evalua atitudinea și dorința oamenilor de a studia limbile română și găgăuză, precum și pentru a identifica motivele pentru care limbile română și găgăuză sunt mai puțin utilizate în Unitatea Teritorială Autonomă Găgăuz-Yeri.

Institutul pentru Inițiative Strategice (IPIS) invită tinerii activi din toată țara să se înscrie la cea de-a treia ediție a Academiei de Liderism și Diversitate IPIS, organizată cu suportul Fundației Konrad Adenauer.

The Institute for Strategic Initiatives (IPIS) is a Moldovan NGO established in 2017, uniting professionals with diverse views. IPIS works to address Moldova’s strategic development challenges from a non-political, non-partisan perspective. IPIS expertise covers five areas: good governance; conflict settlement and inter-ethnic consolidation; public involvement and participatory government; communications; foresight and digital transformation. The call is announced within the project “Promoting social cohesion in Moldova through the study of Gagauz and Romanian languages in Gagauz Yeri autonomous territorial unit”, funded by the Embassy of the Netherlands and SOROS Foundation Moldova. Implementation period: January 2021 – September 2021. The overall goal of the project is to support the preservation of the Gagauz language and culture and to bridge the cultural and linguistic divide, growing mistrust and alienation between Gagauz-Yeri ATU and the rest of Moldova. Project objectives are: -Improve the understanding on the overall framework for the functioning of the Gagauz and Romanian languages in Gagauz Yeri ATU. -Facilitate institutional collaboration between the key stakeholders to achieve sustainable improvement in the study of the Gagauz and Romanian language in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauz Yeri. -Increase public awareness about the study of the Gagauz and Romanian languages in Gaguz Yeri ATU. Experts from Gagauzia and Chisinau made a number of proposals to stimulate the study of the Gagauz and Romanian languages in the autonomy

(Română) Echipa IPIS a desfășurat prima întâlnire a platformei pentru promovarea studierii limbii române și găgăuze în UTA Găgăuzia. Participanții acestei întruniri au făcut un schimb de opinii privind situația generală ce ține de studierea limbii găgăuze și române în autonomia găgăuză, dar și au propus un set de recomandări pentru stimularea acestui proces.
